We met Scott Ryan in 2017 in Wilmington, NC, while restoring our 1982 Stevens 47. We were at a local boat yard, and he came to work there as the head marine carpenter. From the outset he won us over as a down-to-Earth guy who was humble in his trade. We had a huge task ahead of us, in that we wanted our aft cabin gutted and built from scratch. He assessed what we wanted, and – without the standard bravado of some in the marine industry – he politely informed us that he was up for the task. And boy, was he ever! I cannot speak highly enough about his work, and how he transformed our aft cabin into the new stateroom we had only dreamt of before!

Along the way, he redid our galley’s old Formica countertops with beautiful Corian and a new sink. He was even tasked with templating and installing our new port lights and trim throughout the yacht. When having a restoration performed in a boat yard we were told to always stay on top of the people working on your boat. The same was true for the boat yard we visited in NC, with one exception, Scott Ryan! In Scott we trusted, and never did he let us down. I have zero concerns passing on a recommendation for Scott. He is a true professional and a great guy. We were so happy to hear he was venturing out on his own and wish him nothing but the best. If you have marine woodworking needs, from small to big, Scott is your guy. He is incredibly talented, detailed, honest, and professional.

Sincerely,
